High Lonesome Boardwalk-by Junco Cabin
October 12 @ 9:00 am - October 13 @ 4:00 pm
CDTC is partnering with Headwaters Trail Alliance to provide this project for Volunteers. For this project, we will be rebuilding a 75 foot puncheon bridge (boardwalk) that has degraded and is no longer structurally sound. Puncheon bridges are used to elevate the tread above wet areas where drainage is not feasible. Typically the walking surface is parallel to the direction of the trail and the support structures (sills) rest directly on the ground. We will need about 10 volunteers for this project. This project is about a 1/4 mile walk from the Junco Trail Head and parking access.
Please RSVP for this project here, by emailing [email protected] or at http://continentaldividetrail.org/volunteer/
Elevation: 10,070 ft
Level of Diffuculty: Moderate
We will meet at the Junco Trail Head at 9am both Thursday, October 12th and Friday, October 13th. (Please feel free to join us for part of the time if you are unable to come for the enitrety of the project).
Please be prepared for any type of weather. Volunteers must wear long sleeve shirts, long pants, closed toe shoes and eye protection (glasses or sunglasses).
