High-Lonesome (Devil's Thumb) II with CDTC
August 12, 2022 @ 8:00 am - August 14, 2022 @ 4:00 pm
Join HTA and our friends at the Continental Divide Trail Coalition for the continuation of restoration work on the High-Lonesome Trail near Devil's Thumb. After removing hundreds of down trees last year after a catastrophic wind event we will be continuing work on tread restoration, drainage improvements, and check dam installation. The area we will be focusing on will be the section of the trail above the treeline from Rollins Pass to Devil's Thumb. This section of the trail is very popular among backpackers, day-hikers, and through-hikers alike and is a critical connection point on the greater Continental Divide Trail. This will be a three-day project and volunteers are needed to assist in drainage construction, trail surface restoration, and moving heavy logs/rocks for check dam installation. 4WD and clearance will be required to reach the trailhead for this project. Please email [email protected] or [email protected] if you are interested in joining this effort.
