HTA/VOC Adopt-A-Trail and volunteer training.

May 12, 2018 @ 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

Take this opportunity to learn how you can give back directly to your favorite places! HTA and VOC (Volunteers of Outdoor Colorado) Outdoor Stewardship Institute will be hosting this one day workshop to anyone interested in becoming a Grand County Trail Adopter or a trail volunteer through HTA.

Using the Outdoor Stewardship Institute's (OSI) Independent Stewardship for Trails curriculum, trainees will gain the skills necessary to perform needed trail maintenance tasks independently and in small groups. Topics covered will include trail tread and corridor maintenance, as well as maintenance and construction of drainage features such as knick's and dips. Trainees will learn how to address fallen lumber and hazard trees along the trail, plus proper procedures for reporting volunteer work and trail issues. A short review of volunteer leadership, risk management, and tool safety topics will also be covered.

This training is offered for free for anyone who would like to volunteer for HTA.
