Knight Ridge Trail Improvements
July 14 @ 9:00 am - July 16 @ 4:00 pmFree
Headwaters Trails Alliance is partnering with the USFS Sulphur Ranger District and the Continental Divide Trail Coalition (CDTC) to help improve this section of the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail. This project will focus on establishing a trail corridor on the 6 mile Knight Ridge from the Roaring Fork Campground at Arapaho Bay to the Rocky Mountain National Park boundary near Grand Lake and Twin Creek. This segment of trail was cleared in 2015 and 2016 from a significant blow-down of beetle killed pines. Over 900 trees have cleared from this section of trail, and trees are still continuously falling. This section is in need of tread work and repair as well as further clearing the corridor for trail travel. We are in need of volunteers to clear trees with hand saws, rebuild trail treead, and help maintain the existing trail. Volunteers will b transported by boat to and from the site. This will be a multi-day project with camping on site (more details about times and accommodations to come).
