With the 5th annual Colorado Public Lands Day looming on Saturday, May 16th, we can thank the Great American Outdoors Act for continued access to our public lands. Especially here in Grand County, where 80% of our lands are public and possibly the most valuable resource to our economy and overall lifestyle. The Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) has continued to provide access to our public lands through funding the maintenance of existing trails and parks and construction of new locations throughout the county. Although the LWCF has provided funding for our public lands for a number of years, it has never received full funding. The Great American Outdoors Act aims to reverse that trend and provide full funding to the LWCF for years to come.
