Grand County’s 26th Annual National Public Lands Day
Grand County Public Lands on Saturday, Sept. 26th, 2020 @ 7:00 am-7:00 pm
Join us for Grand County’s 26th year of participating in the largest single-day volunteer effort for America’s public lands! Grand County hosts the largest and the longest-running National Public Lands Day in the Nation.
With Covid-19 precautions in place, this year will look a little bit different than years previous. All volunteers will be required to pre-register for the project of their choice and will be sent safety videos and waivers prior to being onsite. Volunteers will be asked to provide their own transportation to and from the worksite. While out on the project all volunteers will be asked to wear face-coverings whenever 6-foot social distancing is not possible.
Volunteer events will include a series of projects on public lands throughout Grand County. In partnership with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), HTA will be leading a bridge construction project in the Phases for a new trail to be completed in 2021. The BLM will also be hosting their annual River Cleanup Event starting at the Pumphouse Recreation Site outside of Kremmling. Partnering with the US Forest Service, HTA will be assisting in the finish work and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Sherman Creek Motorized Singletrack on Stillwater Pass north of Grand Lake. Last but not least, HTA will be leading a trail cleanup and corridor clearing project on the Rendezvous Trails outside of Winter Park.
Although it is looking quite a bit different this year, we are very happy to still be hosting NPLD in light of everything Covid. We sure hope to see you out supporting public lands in Grand County and the continuation of this amazing tradition! Keep an eye out for a flyer attached below for more details.
