Participating in Headwaters Trails Alliance's fundraising and volunteer events is a great way to support the maintenance and enhancement of trails in Grand County, CO. By donating time or money to these events, people can help fund critical trail maintenance and improvement projects, as well as support the organization's educational and advocacy efforts.
Winter Park/Fraser Continental Divide TrailGateway Community Celebration:
Save the date for the official Continental Divide Trail Gateway Community Celebration for Winter Park-Fraser! To celebrate the 8th designated Gateway Community in Colorado, come party with us during National Trails Day weekend from Thursday June 4th to Saturday June 6th with family friendly activities, educational events, inspirational films, and special CDT giveaways! Schedule of events (tentative):
- 6/4 – 6-8pm: Continental Divide Film Night at Big Trout Brewing Company
- 6/5 – 8-10pm: Dark Sky Party at Berthoud Pass with the Grand County Astronomers
- 6/6 – 10am-12pm: Guided hike with local ambassadors along the CDT
- 6/5-6: Scavenger Hunt at Confluence Park and along the Fraser River Trail
- Family friendly! Come Touch-a-Truck with local agencies and Search & Rescue while enjoying nature-based crafting activities at the Rendezvous Event Center
- 6/7 – 3-6pm: The Grand Finale at Hideaway Park Brewery will include exciting speakers, CDT-themed Trivia, and awesome door prizes!
A big thanks to Continental Divide Trail Coalition, HTA, the Viking Lodge, the Winter-Park Fraser Chamber of Commerce, and all the community volunteers/partners for their support in making Grand County a special place for visitors to the Continental Divide landscape.
National Public Lands Day (NPLD) is the largest and most productive volunteer event of the year. Grand County, CO has the longest-running annual NPLD event in the country, 2026 marks our 32nd year! Volunteers get to choose from a variety of projects on public lands across Grand County. There are opportunities for every skill level. The day wraps up with a celebration at the Rendezvous Event Center in Winter Park which is open to volunteers and all other public lands lovers. Music, food and beverages are available. Project details will be available at a later date.

Party in the Park: 4:30pm - 7:00pm
Progressive Ski and Tour de Pour are two events that combine outdoor recreation with fundraising. Participants ski and bike along Grand County Trails stopping at local businesses, restaurants, and bars along the way. These events make for a fun-filled evening that not only directly supports HTA but also some of our wonderful local businesses.

Colorado Public Lands Day and National Trails Day are two events that kick off our summer field season and give us a reason to celebrate our public lands. HTA usually hosts either training workshops or a trail project on these dates depending on early-season trail conditions. Participating in these events allows folks to give back to public lands and learn the basics of trail maintenance.

Headwaters Trails Alliance Season Kickoff Party is an annual event where we gather and celebrate the start of our summer field season. Any and all trail advocates are invited as we highlight the season's upcoming projects, share ideas, and have a drink or two. Join us at Vicious Cycle Brewing to celebrate the start of Summer.

Colorado Gives Day is an annual event that encourages people to support local nonprofits by making online donations. By donating to Headwaters Trails Alliance on this day, people can help ensure that the organization has the resources it needs to continue advocating for the preservation and responsible use of the Grand County trail system.

In addition to donating, folks can also get involved by volunteering their time to Headwaters Trails Alliance projects. By working together, we can ensure that the Grand County trail system remains accessible, enjoyable, and sustainable for generations to come.
